Sample for Dietetic Personal Statement

Make it a point to review at least one dietetic internship personal statement example before you write yours. Here is an ideal sample.

Having completed two years of my dietetics course at XYZ University, I am delighted to note that my passion towards the subject has just increased over time. The more I learn about this fascinating discipline and how it can quite literally change the lives of people, the more passionate I see myself being. I am applying for this internship because I believe that it will give me the much needed exposure and opportunities to comprehend my learnings on a practical scale and hopefully apply them into practice. This would be an excellent opportunity for me to witness the merits of my profession firsthand before I step into my full-time career as a dietitian.

I believe that I have always harbored a penchant for nutrition and understanding healthy eating better. It started from home where my mother would constantly explain why we had to eat our greens and how proper, balanced meals could impact on our overall health. Because of this, even as a child, I knew the importance of healthy eating and would restrict myself from binging on unhealthy snacks. However, it bothered me that there were many children and people in the world who did not care about what they put into their bodies. I read a lot about how lifestyle disorders could potentially turn to be fatal.

I witnessed some of my friends suffer from metabolic disorders like PCOD and this inspired me to build a career in a field that would let me help people make better choices and become healthier. Throughout my school years, I maintained excellent scores in all my examinations. During my higher secondary school, I majored in the subjects of mathematics and science. I learned extensively about different nutrients and micronutrients as part of my higher secondary school syllabus. I also indulged in a lot of personal reading to understand how different aspects of nutrition worked.

After graduating from school, I knew that I wanted to pursue my undergraduate studies in dietetics. Because I had excellent marks in all my school examinations, it was easy for me to secure admission into a reputable institution for this program. I joined ABC college in 2020. I believe that I have gathered strong theoretical insights into different aspects of the core syllabus. Some of my favorite subjects include diet therapy and applied nutrition, physiology and microbiology. Even though the theory is very exciting to me and I have maintained excellent scores throughout, I believe that applying whatever I have learned into practice will be far more rewarding and I simply cannot wait to experience this.

I am applying for this internship at your clinic because I am impressed with the work that you do and XYZ Clinic has a huge reputation of being one of the best. I believe that this will be a wonderful learning opportunity for me. The diverse population around the area and the numerous community outreach programs carried out by the clinic means that I will have the opportunity to witness different kinds of scenarios and interact with numerous patients.

Completing this internship will prove to be a valuable addition to my résumé. I am certain that this experience will be interesting and enriching. I look forward to the numerous positive benefits that I can receive as a part of the experience and contribute in every way that I can to help people improve their eating habits. I sincerely look forward to a positive response from you concerning my application for this internship at your establishment.
